Valentine's Day Contest: What do you really want?

This is to follow up on my Valentine's Day blog posting that's right below this one...and it's one of my crabbier rants.

Here's the contest: What would you and your beloved rather have for Valentine's Day?

I want a good grout cleaner and Alex would like a ham and Brie sandwich.

Sasha says her husband would like Kona. (Sasha...send me your contact info at deborah at yarnmarket.com and I'll send you a Yarnmarket Gift Certificate just for agreeing with me!)

Post your idea of the perfect Valentine's Day Gift and I'll select a winner on Valentine's Day. The award will be a Yarnmarket Gift Certificate for $25.

Have fun!

Oh...PLEASE DO NOT ASK FOR A TEDDY BEAR OR PAJAMAS.

I would like a new set of measuring cups and spoons, and my DH would like a new reading lamp. Makes no sense, I know, but it's what we both use every day.

I am not a big fan valentine's fan. It's too close to my birthday! But if someone *had* to get me something, a nice book or just a good meal out somewhere yummy is plenty for me.

Oh hi me again. The boy would love hand knit socks. That's probably his perfect valentine's gift idea.

I want a 7-year-old who picks up his clothes, dogs that wipe their own muddy paws and a husband who doesn't have to be commended for every little thing he does (I helped the kid brush his teeth, I brought in the mail, I fed the dogs - REALLY? sit down for 15 minutes and I'll tell you what *I* did today!!)

I am not a fan of Valentine's Day. It seems like just a "guilt" day for guys.
Best Valentine's gift would be the gift certificate from Yarnmarket.

Being alone except for this nine month old grandson I take care of... I would like to have time to knit! I would like to not have to hide all my projects so he doesn't pull them apart. I would like someone to care that I spend so much time alone.

I would like a day off of work that my fiance and I could spend together. I know that Valentine's Day is on a Sunday this year. Neither of us works on Sunday. But don't you think a random day off during the regular work week is much more fun? It would be great to have a snow day off that we could spend at home together.

I'd like a day to myself, to find a yoga class, maybe get a facial. BD would like nothing better than to be with the grandbabies :)

I want to quite my day job and design full time. Jeff wants me to keep working so that I don't become a complete recluse.

I asked my fiance and he'd like a happy day and a new Xbox 360 game, and I'd like the happy day too, and a new set of 8mm Lantern Moon needles in Rosewood with enough lovely chunky yarn to make the 'Circular Shrug' pattern from Ravelry whilst I sat and watched him play. ^-^ That'd be perfect. Just perfect.

Personally, I would like a pound of kona coffee or a bottle of good cognac for us both to enjoy.

My SO wants classical philosophy books, or so he says.

Pamela...I'm so sorry that you're so busy with your grandson that you don't have time to knit. You're a wonderful Grandma to be caring for him! I hope you have some visitors on Valentine's Day who'll show appreciation for what you're doing. If not, please know that your friends at Yarnmarket admire you for sacrifices. We hope your Grandson grows up to appreciate what you're doing.

I would like to go to one of the knitting or wool festivals I am always reading about. My husband said that would work for him, too, as long as the hotel we stayed in had a swimming pool and room service.

I would like a nice bottle of scotch to sip while the Magical Cleaning Fairy comes to take care of my apartment. And maybe some nice yarn to pet while I sip scotch and watch the fairy do its magic.

And my SO...well, I don't have a human SO. But I do have Ira, who would like to be recognized for the Yarn Celebrity that he is and be treated as such. If he can't get that, some tuna will do.

I've been single for 11 yrs. now and I would like someone to watch TV with and go to the movies with besides my grown daughters even if they are good company when they come to visit.

And the winner -- based on a random drawing -- is...

Melisa!

Congratulations!

Please send your contact into to me at deborah at yarnmarket dot com and I'll send your gift certificate.

Thanks to each of you who entered.

Last night I cooked Alex a heart-shaped meatloaf. Nothing says, "I love you," like meat. :)
