After a very busy week that included a Ravelry Event at Yarnmarket and the big TNNA Conference, we're on our way to Italia to soak up a little sun, drink a little vino and float in the Mediterranean Sea. Oh, I know what you're all thinking. You're thinking, "Deb, you're the cheapest person on the planet. Are you really spending money to go to Italy?"
My answer is, "Why do you think I'm so cheap?"
I buy my clothes at Sam's Club. I dye my own hair, do my own gardening, paint my own fingernails, and fix my own washer so I can spend all that money I save for dipping my toes in the nice warm sea. Yes, I'm sure a lot of others buy their clothes at Sam's Club. But I'll bet you didn't buy your wedding gown there.
Okay, I'm kidding. But it's not that far off.
Even my neighbor, Carol, once said to a clerk in a store as I stood beside her, "This is the cheapest woman in the world." I puffed up with pride! (She owed me one. I'd embarrassed her at Victoria's Secret when I put a thong over my head and said, "This is a pretty eye patch."
So we're off to Italy bright and early tomorrow...right after I finish making the 14 peanut butter sandwiches I'm going to take with us to eat. You don't think I'd spend money on a restaurant, do you?
Be good to all our Yarn Martians while I'm gone. I'll be back on July 1st to celebrate Canada Day and my Dad's birthday.

New! Berroco Borealis and Berroco Campus Yarns
While I've been at TNNA, Yarn Martians back at the office have added two new Berroco yarns to our inventory. We've now got Berroco Campus and Berroco Borealis in lots of luscious colors.
The Campus yarn sells for just $9.85 for 130 yards of the soft combination of 50% wool & 40% acrylic plus a touch of alpaca.
Berroco Borealis is just $13.85 at Yarnmarket. Crafted in Italy, it's made of Italy 60% acrylic & 40% wool.
We've got quite a few autumn colors to choose from...but you'll want to order early because these yarns are going to be very popular.
Yesterday at the TNNA Conference, we were lucky enough to have lunch with Norah, Cirilia and Warren Wheelock of Berroco yarns. What a great group they are! It makes working such a pleasure when everyone we deal with is so darned nice.

A wonderful evening at Yarnmarket
Many thanks to all the knitters who joined us last night for our big event. It was so much fun to have you visit us and to show you around the place. As you may be able to tell, we're very proud of Yarnmarket!
We really appreciated having the Ravelry team here -- Jessica, Casey, Mary-Heather and Sarah. And we were also thrilled to have Della Q, Denise Needles and Kollage come to meet our knitters, too!
Della very graciously offered a door prize...and I'm delighted to announce that the winner is Mindy White. As soon as I get her address, I'll send her prize to her!
And the winner of the autographed Eisaku Noro book is Lisa Adkins. Lisa, send me your address, too!
We hope that you had fun at our party and we'd like to thank those of you who came from so far away to see us. It's our great honor to be your yarn shop!

Something to make you smile...on a dreary day.
It's gray and raining here in the thriving megalopolis of Pickerington, Ohio, so I thought I'd share with you some photos my Mom sent of her garden. She's up in Caledon Hills (thus the name of our yarn!) in Canada and I'm very envious of her nice sandy soil. My backyard is better suited to pottery than flowers, but I still try to have nice gardens.

Great deal on Lantern Moon Origami Bag -- just $15.88 at BargainYARNS
I just noticed this gorgeous Lantern Moon Origami Bag on our sale site, BargainYARNS. It would make a terrific yarn bag, but I think I'd want to carry it to the beach. Wouldn't you?
The Lantern Moon Origami Bag is crafted in natural folded palm leaf and lined with raw silk that ties securely at the top. The dimensions are 11" high x 13" wide x 6"deep. Not too big...and just the right size to carry my 5000 SPF sunscreen, novel, beverage and whatever else I might take along.
We've got quite a few blue bags and some pink ones still remaining. You might want to place your order quickly because this is a really exceptional price on a high-quality Lantern Moon bag.

This bird needs your help. Please support Dawn Detergent's efforts to save our wildlife. Now.
Yeah, I know...this is pretty depressing stuff. When I look at this bird, I'm torn between crying, vomiting and becoming enraged.
This is not the time to point fingers or make political statements. It's time to do something to help these poor, suffering animals, and clean up the mess. We can bitch about human issues later and spend the next dozen years participating in a Blamefest.
But right now...please, please visit the web site for Dawn Dish Detergent and register to help save wildlife. It costs you nothing. You just enter the serial number of the Dawn Detergent that's probably sitting under your sink right now. For every serial number entered, Dawn will give another dollar toward saving wildlife.
Do the right thing. If we have any purpose on the planet, surely it must be to take care of the animals that populate it.
